Alex Leighton is the co-founder, director, and lead character designer at Mukpuddy Animation, the wildly creative Auckland-based studio known for its distinct 2D style and offbeat humour.
Alex and his co-founders, Ryan Cooper and Tim Evans, have taken Mukpuddy from humble beginnings in a basement to an internationally recognised animation house. With projects like The Barefoot Bandits, Quimbo’s Quest, and Tumeke Space under their belt — not to mention animated sequences for feature films and a growing slate of original IP — Mukpuddy has carved out a uniquely Kiwi voice in the animation world.
Alex’s eye for character design and his commitment to collaborative storytelling have helped shape Mukpuddy into a space where creativity thrives and weirdness is welcome.
